At NIPM, we have 3 Specialist Pain Management Physicians servicing Newcastle and the Central Coast. We also have a Psychiatrist, 2 Exercise Physiologists, 2 Pain Psychologist and 2 Registered Nurses to make your patients experience as seamless as possible.
To refer to one of the Pain Doctors, please use this referral. An open referral enables your patient to book in to the soonest appointment. Alternatively, you are able to refer to the Doctor that you feel best suits your patients needs.
Our Doctors book out a few months in advance, so it is important to have a detailed referral so it is able to be triaged accordingly. We reserve urgent appointments with all of our providers, if you feel your patient should be seen urgently please do not hesitate in phoning and speaking with a Doctor or the Practice Manager.
For patients coming to NIPM under Workers Compensation, CTP or ADF, our Patient Experience Team are experts in helping individuals through this process.
We are a private pain clinic and do not bulk bill. If you are seeking a bulk billing practice, we would suggest a referral to either Hunter Integrated Pain Service at the John Hunter Hospital or Central Integrated Pain Service at Gosford Public Hospital.
Please be advised all Doctors' have closed their books to self funded patients as of 2026 due to the long wait times for appointments.

The process for your patients
Booking initial consultations at NIPM
- Upon receiving your referral, your patient will be sent an SMS to make contact with us.
- If we have not heard from them within 7 days, we will telephone them.
- If there is no response to this call, we will post them a letter to the address listed on your referral.
- We will always notifty you of a booking, or non-contact.
After their consultations
- We use Heidi AI to transcribe our letters.
- These are uploaded by the patient experience team and sent to the Doctor for review.
- We do not release correspondence before the specialist has reviewed it.
- We hope to have letters dispatched within 7 business days, however if you need it sooner, please make contact with us.
