Dr John Prickett

Dr Prickett completed his medical degree at The University of Western Australia and then completed specialist training in The United Kingdom as well as Hunter New England Area Health Service from 1995 to 2003. Dr Prickett works regularly with bariatric surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, urologists and general surgeons and perform about 2,000 anaesthetics per year. I keep fully up to date by complying with our specialist college’s continuing professional development program.
Dr Prickett’s service to you:
- I will provide you with the safest possible anaesthesia and minimise pain.
- Evaluate and help you understand risks of surgery and anaesthesia.
- Discuss any previous anaesthesia experiences, problems or fears that you have.
- Answer any questions about worries you or your family have.
- Minimise pain and nausea throughout your hospital stay. I am available for the nursing staff and your surgeon to contact at any stage during your hospital stay if you are having problems with pain or nausea.
When will you meet Dr Prickett?
You will meet Dr Prickett in his consulting rooms if you are having major surgery such as bariatric surgery, joint replacement surgery, major general surgery or if you have a complex medical history.
If your procedure is less major, I’ll see you on the day, however if you feel you’d like to see me in my rooms beforehand, please contact my office to arrange an appointment time.
