Meet Dr. John Prickett, our Specialist Pain Management Physician

Dr Prickett is a specialist pain management physician and a specialist anaesthetist.
Dr Prickett has over 20 years of experience in Anaesthesia both in the Newcastle and Hunter Valley regions as well as the United Kingdom.
Originally from Perth having gained his medical degree from the University of Western Australia, he travelled to the United Kingdom to study Anaesthesia attaining specialist qualifications in both the United Kingdom and Ireland. On return to Australia and settling in the Hunter area he added the Australian anaesthetic fellowship.
In 2010 Dr Prickett completed Masters of Medicine ( Pain Management ) at the University of Sydney NSW.
Dr Prickett has been assessing and helping patients with chronic pain since 2008. Dr Prickett’s aims are to facilitate the development of an individualized pain self management process, where the patient feels supported, listened to and in control of the process, within a multidisciplinary framework.
Dr Prickett continues to foster close links with Royal North Shore Hospital and their high Intensity pain management program.
Development of audit and ongoing research in advancing pain management approaches are key areas for all Specialists at the practice.
Dr Prickett is an independent provider (ABN. 92 661 382 059) and sees patients in Charlestown and Maitland. Dr Prickett also sees private patients in hospital for acute and chronic pain problems upon request from the treating hospital doctor. Dr Prickett continues to foster close links with Royal North Shore Hospital and their high intensity pain management program.
