Privacy Breach Policy

Northern Integrated Pain Management aims to promote the timely investigation and reporting of any and all Privacy Breaches to ensure we comply with the Privacy Amendment (Notifiable Data Breaches) Act 2017. The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all employees are aware of the procedures in relation to Privacy Breaches and the way in which they are reported and managed.

What is a data breach?

A data breach is an unauthorised access or disclosure of personal information or loss of personal information. Data breaches can have serious consequences, so it is important that employees are aware of the systems and procedures in place to identify and respond to any breaches effectively. It may also trigger reporting obligations outside of the Privacy Act.
A data breach could be described as;

It is an expectation that staff abide by this policy but it does not form part of your contract. I acknowledge that if this agreement is breached, NIPM may take appropriate disciplinary action including immediate termination. Employees are encouraged to report breaches of this policy to the Practice Manager.
